PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS TIP:
Lighten an underexposure using Blend Modes

Image 1 - Locate the Blend Modes pop up menu |

Image 2 - Use Layer Opacity to reduce the effect |

- Duplicate the BACKGROUND Layer and click on it
- Click on NORMAL in the Layer Blend Mode pop-up menu
- Scroll down and choose SCREEN
- Click on OPACITY & reduce to the desired level
- If you need to lighten the picture more, duplicate the BACKGROUND COPY layer one more time and then repeat the procedure
